Because clarity
is the difference between
being heard and being understood

Nonfiction editing that supports the purpose of your work.

Do I have too

much information?

Will readers lose sight of the ideas that matter most?

Am  I keeping my reader engaged?

Does my writing flow, or will my readers tune out?

Am I leaving too much unsaid?

Will my readers need more explanation, evidence, or context?

Let's bring your message into focus.

I'll help identify areas where your writing can become clearer
and your ideas more accessible.

When you're
an expert, the
"curse of knowledge"
makes it all too easy
to leave your
readers behind.

Bridging the Distance

When you live inside a topic, steps that are second nature to you can often look like leaps to your reader. I help you spot those invisible gaps.

My role is to translate your expertise with clarity so your readers can follow your ideas from beginning to end.

I bring an editor's perspective to help reveal the places where your readers may need more context, less detail, or a clearer explanation.

Why Work with Me

I respect your expertise

You know your subject better than anyone else. My role isn't to change what you know—it's to help communicate it clearly. I ask thoughtful questions to help strengthen your writing without changing what you want to say.

I edit with your readers in mind

Readers don't know what you know. I look for places where readers may need more—or less—to fully understand your message.

I help your strongest ideas stand out

Not every detail carries the same weight. I help ensure your key arguments, important instructions, and meaningful moments stand out so readers come away with what matters most.

Levels of Support

1

The Deep Dive

(Structural Edit)

Best for

Writers who know what they want to say but need help ensuring their ideas are organized, developed, and easy for readers to follow.

This structural edit focuses on:

  • How your organization supports your audience.

  • How each section builds naturally on the last.

  • Whether each section has a purpose.

  • How clearly your message reaches your audience.

  • Where your audience may need more explanation—or less.

You'll receive
  • A detailed editorial letter (up to 10 pages) outlining key observations and prioritized recommendations, illustrated with examples from your manuscript, along with practical suggestions for revision.

  • Your manuscript returned in Microsoft Word (Track Changes) or Google Docs (Suggested Edits), with in-line comments containing observations, explanations, questions, and suggestions that support your revision.

2

The Line Check

(Line and Copyedit)

Best for

Authors who are content with the structure of their work and want to strengthen the writing for greater clarity, flow, and readability before publication.

This edit focuses on two areas:

Line Edit

  • How clearly your ideas are expressed.

  • How naturally your paragraphs and sentences flow.

  • How effectively your language serves your audience.

Copyedit

  • Correcting grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and capitalization.

  • Ensuring consistency across terminology, formatting, headings, lists, numbering, cross-references, and other structural elements, as applicable to your project.

  • Checking headings, lists, numbering, and other structural elements for consistency.

  • Removing distractions that interrupt the reading experience.

You'll receive
  • Your project edited in Microsoft Word (Track Changes) or Google Docs (Suggested Edits), depending on the project and your preference.

  • A project style sheet documenting editorial decisions and key style choices.

  • In-line comments with clarification, questions, and suggestions to support your revision.

The Final Polish

(Copyedit)

Best for

Authors who want support through every stage of the editing process, from strengthening the structure of their work to refining the writing for publication.

This package combines The Deep Dive and The Line Check into one comprehensive editing experience, guiding your project from structural revision to a polished final draft. We'll begin with the structural edit, giving you time to revise your work before moving on to line editing and copyediting.

Because these services are designed to build on one another, The Full Spread is offered at a lower combined price than booking each edit separately.
